John Locke lived between the 29th August 1632 to the 28th October 1704. He was an English philosopher and a physician. He was also known as the “Father of Liberalism”
What were their major contributions to the 18th-century philosophy?
John Locke had 3 main theories
- Was from his Essay “Essay Concerning Human Understanding” (1689) where it outlined the theory of human knowledge, where he states that everyone begins life as a “white paper, void of all characters” and that our experiences are what makes us who we are. This Theory was also known as the “Tabula Rasa” or “blank space” This theory went against the idea that “God makes us who we are”
